Sculptor of the Angel
The Angel of Peace was carved from a solid block of granite
by Nashville sculptor Coley Coleman. With the Angel finally atop the monument
his many long months of planning and work came to a successful end.
In reflection, he related that he had moved to Nashville 25 years ago
on April 1, 1974, the very day a tornado struck the monument
at its original location on Franklin Pike, smashing the original Angel and obelisk.
